In anticipation of the civic polls in Hyderabad, Telangana Congress leader Revanth Reddy has strategically unveiled a statue of the TDP founder N T Rama Rao. The move appears to be aimed at winning the favor of TDP supporters and Andhra-native voters.

Speaking at the unveiling of the 13-foot bronze statue installed at Ameerpet, Reddy emphasized NTR's transcendent appeal beyond caste, religion, and regional boundaries. Defending criticism about unveiling the statue in Hyderabad, Reddy equated NTR's importance to that of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Congress leaders regard the unveiling as a tactical maneuver to bolster support in the upcoming elections, appealing to NTR's enduring popularity among Andhra Pradesh-origin residents in Hyderabad.

Ravi, a political analyst, noted that Reddy is trying to consolidate the legacy of NTR alongside Indira Gandhi's, which could positively impact Congress's standing among voters in Telangana. The elections are eagerly awaited after administrative changes divided the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation into three separate entities.
