Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Chief of Punjab Congress, praised party workers for their resilience in the recent municipal elections, despite challenges posed by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He criticized AAP for allegedly misusing power and official resources during the civic elections.
Warring emphasized that the real test for AAP will come during the 2027 assembly elections, where he strongly believes the opposition parties will prevail. According to the Punjab State Election Commission's data, AAP won 886 of the 1,977 contested wards, while Congress took 358. However, Warring downplayed these results as not reflective of the true public sentiment against the ruling party.
He accused AAP of resorting to tactics of 'saam, daam, dand, bhed' throughout the polls. Simultaneously, Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal also accused AAP of oppressive practices, such as nomination paper rejections, yet appreciated the support for his party and independents backed by them.
