Rabri Devi has openly dared Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary to evict her by force from the government bungalow she has lived in for years. The property was recently reassigned to Nand Kishor Ram, the current Dairy and Fisheries Minister, sparking Devi's defiant response.
Confronted by reporters about the department's order while returning from Delhi, Devi emphasized that she has no intention of vacating the property. Her insistence comes despite being offered an alternative residence. Choudhary, who started his political journey in Devi's cabinet, now faces her vehement opposition over this issue.
The bungalow at 10, Circular Road, has served not only as her residence but also as a hub for opposition activities. The previous administration had assigned the property to the family. The shift in allotment policy, prioritizing deputy chief ministers, seems insufficient to sway Devi to leave, especially under strained relations with the current administration.
Amid these tensions, JD(U) leader Leshi Singh reminds Devi of the government’s provision of another residence and cautions her against expecting lenience regarding the occupancy of the previous estate.
