Mallikarjun Kharge, president of Congress, announced that no official proposal has been submitted regarding the composition of the upcoming Karnataka ministry under the leadership of the Chief Minister-designate D K Shivakumar.
Kharge suggested that decisions concerning the selection of ministers, deputy chief ministers, and other significant posts will occur only after detailed discussions following the swearing-in ceremony on June 3. Currently, the party is engaged in deliberations on government formation but has not yet received any formal suggestions.
He indicated that a phased approach could be adopted for cabinet expansion, with initial appointments followed by subsequent ones over a series of weeks. The search for a new Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president is also underway, with emphasis on identifying someone capable of uniting and strengthening the party rapidly ahead of upcoming electoral challenges.
Kharge emphasized the need for a leader who could efficiently mobilize party efforts, given the limited time until future elections. Party discussions remain ongoing to determine the best course of action for leadership roles and cabinet formation in Karnataka.
