Rebel MLA Uprising: Ritabrata Banerjee Claims Opposition Crown in West Bengal

Expelled Trinamool Congress leader Ritabrata Banerjee declared their faction's recognition as the principal opposition in the West Bengal Assembly. In a swift turn of events in West Bengal's political arena, expelled Trinamool Congress MLA Ritabrata Banerjee has announced their faction's recognition as the principal opposition in the 18th West Bengal Legislative Assembly. Banerjee, supported by 58 legislators, confirmed that the Speaker has validated their status.

Addressing journalists, Banerjee expressed a desire for Mamata Banerjee to act as a chief advisor, citing the unified stance of over two-thirds of TMC's MLAs. Banerjee criticized party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, who he alleged was disconnected from the people and embroiled in controversies.

Amid the internal turmoil, the Trinamool Congress declared the dissolution of its committees in West Bengal, in a bid to overhaul its organizational structure after the BJP's ascendancy in the state's recent elections. The party aims to rebuild and strengthen its position, as conveyed in a post on X.
