In a rapidly unfolding political saga, expelled Trinamool Congress legislator Ritabrata Banerjee proclaimed on Wednesday that his faction has been recognized as the primary opposition in the 18th West Bengal Legislative Assembly. Banerjee, who claims the backing of 58 MLAs, stated that the Speaker has officially acknowledged their status.

During a press briefing, Banerjee expressed a desire for former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to serve as their chief advisor, emphasizing a collective vision. He criticized Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, questioning his role and public support.

This upheaval has prompted the Trinamool Congress to dissolve all its secondary committees and organize a sweeping restructure, signaling a strategic shift following their loss in the recent assembly elections to the BJP.
