The Keralam government, led by Chief Minister VD Satheesan, unveiled a series of significant cabinet decisions on Thursday. These include resolving the long-pending payment issues faced by paddy farmers in the Palakkad district, offering financial relief to families affected by a fireworks factory explosion in Thrissur, and recommending a CBI investigation into the death of former Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Naveen Babu.
Addressing the pressing concerns of the agriculture sector, the cabinet exempted primary cooperative societies from the sanctioning process of PRS loans, thereby ensuring timely disbursement to all qualified paddy farmers in Palakkad. This move is expected to alleviate the financial hardships faced by the farmers due to delayed payments.
In addition to addressing agricultural grievances, the cabinet pledged Rs 14 lakh each for families of those who perished in the tragic Thrissur explosion. Moreover, in a decisive move for accountability in government entities, the removal of irregularly appointed individuals from various Boards and Corporations was approved. Topping the list of announcements was the submission of a recommendation for a CBI probe into Naveen Babu's death, signaling a pursuit for truth and justice.
