Tragedy in Tel Rumeida: Civilian Casualties in West Bank Tensions

On Friday evening, a tragic incident in Tel Rumeida, Hebron, resulted in the death of a seven-month-old Palestinian infant and injuries to his parents, as reported by the Palestinian health ministry.

The family was near Checkpoint 17 when Israeli military action led to gunfire towards their vehicle. The grandmother recounted how a bullet that fatally struck the baby also injured both parents.

The Israeli military stated that troops perceived an approaching threat from the civilian vehicle, leading to the firing of shots. Preliminary investigations by the military identified the casualties as non-combatants; an inquiry is currently underway.
