Karnataka is buzzing with political activity as Congress and BJP both prepare for the upcoming Legislative Council and Rajya Sabha elections. Congress leader Saleem Ahmed exuded confidence during a press briefing on Saturday, asserting that their MLC candidate will file a nomination on Monday and the party is poised for victory in all seats.

Ahmed further clarified that decisions regarding ministerial roles will be at the discretion of the party's high command and the Chief Minister. 'I am hopeful for a cabinet position this time,' he stated. The political scene in Karnataka is intense, as Congress works to consolidate its influence in the approaching elections.

On Friday, AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge entered the electoral fray by filing his Rajya Sabha nomination at the Vidhana Soudha complex in Karnataka. Besides, Congress strategically announced its Rajya Sabha candidates, including Mansoor Ali Khan and Pawan Khera from Karnataka, and others from various states.

Simultaneously, the BJP has disclosed its own slate of 11 candidates, featuring key figures from different regions as part of their effort to fortify their upper-house standings. Candidates range from Tai Tagak in Arunachal Pradesh to Debashish Samantaray in the Rajya Sabha by-election in Odisha.

The Election Commission kick-started the process for the biennial elections in early June, with nominations open until June 8. This election cycle will allocate 24 Rajya Sabha seats among 10 states, catalyzing a crucial political moment for both parties as strategies play out in these significant contests across India.
