The All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) is witnessing heightened internal strife as MP and advocate Kalyan Banerjee openly criticized party General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee over legal representation in a signature forgery case. Speaking to reporters in Kolkata, Kalyan issued a direct ultimatum to TMC leader Mamata Banerjee, urging her to choose between him and her nephew, Abhishek.

Kalyan, a staunch loyalist, labeled Abhishek as arrogant, attributing the party's ongoing rift to his behavior. He cited procedural discrepancies within a criminal revision petition as a catalyst for his public denouncement, emphasizing his exclusion from critical legal decisions. Expressing dissatisfaction with the handling, Kalyan announced the end of his representation for Abhishek in legal matters, blaming him for disrespecting seniors.

Amidst this turbulence, the party faces a wave of resignations: TMC MPs Prakash Chik Baraik, Sushmita Dev, and Sukhendu Sekhar Ray have left their seats, stirring speculation of a possible alliance shift towards the NDA. Meanwhile, rebel voices amplify, with Ritabrata Banerjee claiming support from 64 of TMC's 80 Assembly members, hinting at an imminent party split.
