Union Minister Piyush Goyal launched a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of governing with 'extreme cruelty' and fostering a climate of fear and poverty. Speaking at a press conference, Goyal asserted that the people of West Bengal have voiced their disdain for Banerjee's 15-year tenure, which he described as devoid of development and public welfare.
Amid this criticism, Goyal proclaimed that the state has regained freedom and people are now freely speaking their minds. He hailed the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and anticipated transformative change under the government led by Suvendu Adhikari. Goyal's remarks come at a time when Trinamool Congress (TMC) is grappling with internal discord, highlighted by confrontations involving party MP Kalyan Banerjee.
In a dramatic development, Kalyan Banerjee issued an ultimatum to Mamata Banerjee, demanding she choose between him and her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee. Kalyan expressed dissatisfaction with the handling of legal matters, citing disrespect and arrogance from Abhishek. This internal party turmoil is aggravated by several Rajya Sabha MPs resigning from TMC, as the party contends with factional disputes.
