British Prime Minister Keir Starmer asserted his dedication to national security after John Healey stepped down as defence minister on Thursday. Healey accused the government of failing to adequately fund the military.

In response, Starmer acknowledged Healey's concerns in a letter, affirming that further action was indeed necessary. Healey had accused the prime minister and the Treasury of their reluctance to allocate sufficient resources for national defence.

Starmer assured that the soon-to-be-published Defence Investment Plan will significantly boost defence spending in a sustainable manner. This plan promises to equip the military with the resources needed to protect the nation and offer clear guidance for the British defence industry’s future planning.
