Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, vehemently criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday for remaining silent over the deaths of three Indian sailors. These sailors lost their lives in a U.S. military strike on a commercial vessel near Oman. Gandhi slammed the Prime Minister, calling him a "compromised PM" who is unable to protect the "sons of Mother India." According to Gandhi, Modi lacks the courage to confront those responsible for this loss of Indian lives.
Taking to social media platform X, Gandhi accused PM Modi of failing to speak up about the tragic incident involving the Indian sailors, who were among those killed in a U.S. strike. He highlighted that while Modi will participate in international summits, he would refrain from addressing the deaths of Indian nationals.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has also reacted by summoning the U.S. Charge d'Affaires to express strong disapproval of the attacks. The incident involved the vessel MT Settebello, which came under U.S. fire as it was accused of breaching a naval blockade on Iranian ports. Out of 24 Indian crew members aboard, 21 were rescued, while efforts are ongoing to repatriate the deceased sailors' remains.
