Taiwan's defence ministry on Thursday proposed spending an extra T$210 billion ($6.66 billion) on drones until 2031, after the government's original proposal for $40 billion in supplementary defence spending was cut by two-thirds by parliament.
The spending will cover three categories of equipment: coastal surveillance and reconnaissance drones, coastal attack drones, and small suicide unmanned surface vessels, the ministry said in a statement. ($1 = 31.5530 Taiwan dollars)
