State BJP Vice president Tame Phassang Thursday claimed large scale electoral malpractices in 18/4-Sangram Polling station under Kra-Daadi District by rival INC party and called for another re-poll under tight security.
Addressing a press conference, Phassang said that the INC supporters allegedly captured the Sangram polling booth wherein several genuine voters were not allowed to cast their vote. He said it was a desperate attempt of the opposition party to win the election. "Voting, it's a common man right and nobody can curtail it. But at Sangram polling station, forget about the voters, not even election agents were allowed to enter the booth," Phassang said while terming the incident unfortunate. Asserting that their party believes in a free and fair election, he further quashed the opposition party's claim of BJP pouring a lot of money to manipulate voters in the election.
"Re-poll was declared hereafter proper examination by the EC on April 27. However, till date the election process is not completed due to the wrongdoings of some party leaders," Phassang added. He condemned the reported incidents of violence in certain polling stations of Kurung Kumey and Kra Dadi districts. Polling in these two districts was marred with violence as multiple clashes broke out between workers. Phassang said the election is a festival of democracy and has to be allowed to conduct as per Election Commission of India guidelines.
