Khuntia hails Congress win in three LS seats in Telangana

Voters in Telangana have given an answer to the alleged unilateral attitude of the ruling TRS through the Lok Sabha polls, AICC in-charge of party affairs in the state R C Khuntia said Friday. He congratulated the victorious candidates, the state Congress said in a release.

Congress managed to win three of the 17 seats in Telangana in the LS polls, while TRS bagged nine. BJP emerged successful in four constituencies. Congress put up a tough fight in eight seats and won three. The party lost two other seats with a narrow margin, Khuntia said.

Voters have stopped TRS at nine seats though the ruling party claimed to be winning 16 of the 17 seats, he said. State Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy said his party should have won six, but managed to win three.

He said this in an informal interaction with mediapersons, Congress sources said. Reddy got elected from Nalgonda Lok Sabha constituency.

The win enthused the party cadre and it would be Congress that would defeat TRS in future, he said..
