Spain's acting Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez confirmed on Thursday that coalition talks with the far-left Unidas Podemos had collapsed.
He was expected to lose a vote in parliament, later on, to decide whether he should be confirmed as premier.
"A deal wasn't possible," Sanchez told lawmakers before parliament was due to vote.
