New Ukraine finance minister: cooperation with IMF is priority

Cooperation with the International Monetary Fund is 'an absolute priority' for Ukraine, newly appointed Finance Minister Ihor Umansky told the Fund's representative in Ukraine, Gosta Ljungman, on Friday. "The new IMF... program is important for maintaining the financial stability and implementation of structural reforms in Ukraine, which is a priority for the government," the Finance Ministry quoted Umansky as saying.
A $5.5 billion IMF loan program, provisionally agreed by the previous government last year, is contingent on Ukraine passing reforms and keeping the budget deficit in check. New Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said the government would continue constructive work with the IMF.
A sweeping government reshuffle this week by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has raised questions about Ukraine's reform momentum and weighed on Ukrainian bonds.
