Kashmiri Pandits with religious fervor celebrate Janmashtami

Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna, was celebrated by Kashmiri Pandits with religious fervor on Monday.

Hundreds of devotees thronged temples across the valley to pay obeisance to Lord Krishna.

Special prayers were held to mark the occasion.

Officials said the Kashmiri Pandits also took out a colorful procession through the historic Lal Chowk city center here.

Many members of the Muslim community witnessed the procession and greeted their Pandit brethren, they said.

The celebrations passed off peacefully, officials said.
