Makar Sankranti, one of the most popular Hindu festivals, marks the beginning of summer. Makar Sankranti is dedicated to the Sun God and devotees express their gratitude for a good harvest. Several colourful kites in the sky are seen on this day as people celebrate the festival. Sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik this year created a Sand Art with some colourful Kites and wishing "Happy Makar Sankranti".

Pattnaik tweeted the sand art and wrote, "My Warm wishes to all on this auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, The Harvesting Festival of India. Happy Makar Sankranti! #HappyMakarSankranti . My SandArt at puri beach, Odisha."
