Latur city deputy mayor Chandrakant Birajdar on Tuesday withdrew his agitation after the civic commissioner accepted his demand to cancel permission granted to a man for constructing a residential building on an open plot here in central Maharashtra.

Birajdar, along with a group of corporators and residents from the area where the plot is located, was sitting on a 'dharna' on steps of the main entrance of the Latur Municipal Corporation since Monday morning.

They were opposing municipal commissioner Aman Mittal's decision to allow the man to construct a residential building on the plot in Rajmudra Nagar, saying the structure will hinder movement of local residents and vehicles.

Birajdar on Monday said the LMC's general body had passed a resolution in the past for acquiring the plot but still permission was given for construction of the building.

On Tuesday afternoon, Mittal canceled the construction permit after which the agitation was called off.
