The Lucknow Development Authority has initiated the demolition of illegal constructions, including shops and houses, in Akbarnagar. This move has stirred concerns among local residents.

Indramani Tripathi, vice-president of the authority, stated that people had been requested to vacate and shift their belongings to Vasant Kunj. 'For the past two days, we have been appealing to residents to move their belongings and relocate to their new apartments in Vasant Kunj. Most have complied,' Tripathi told PTI.

Security forces have been deployed and the area is under CCTV surveillance to ensure the smooth execution of the demolition. However, residents voiced grievances over the Rs 8,000 relocation fee and the inconvenience for senior citizens due to the new apartments being located on higher floors without proper connectivity.
