Delhi Ensures No Floods with Clear Yamuna Channel

Delhi's Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj assured that the city will not face floods this year due to a clear channel for the Yamuna river's flow. Inspecting the ITO Barrage, Bharadwaj attributed last year's floods to obstruction at the barrage gates, which have now been addressed.

Delhi's Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj has assured citizens that the city will be spared from floods this year, thanks to proactive measures ensuring a clear channel for the Yamuna river’s flow. During a recent inspection of the ITO Barrage, Bharadwaj cited the primary cause of last year's flooding as obstructions at barrage gates, which were under the jurisdiction of the Haryana government.

Bharadwaj explained that pilot cuts have been made to remove these obstructions, allowing natural water flow to clear any blockages. ''As soon as water flows with force through the Yamuna, it will take away the obstructions. The Yamuna will get a clear channel. As the irrigation and flood control minister, I can say there won't be a flood this time,'' Bharadwaj confidently stated.

Last year, due to heavy rains, Delhi experienced severe flooding in several areas, resulting in the evacuation of over 25,000 residents. The measures undertaken this time are expected to prevent a recurrence of such a disaster.
