Jharkhand Fast-Track Housing Scheme Gains Momentum

Jharkhand CM Champai Soren urged the acceleration of constructing 2 lakh houses under the 'Abua Awas' scheme. Launched by former CM Hemant Soren last November, the scheme aims to aid those excluded from the PM Awas Yojana. He emphasized no laxity, warned against irregularities, and stressed low-cost construction materials.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren has issued directives to expedite the construction of 2 lakh houses in the initial phase of the 'Abua Awas' scheme, emphasizing that no leniency will be tolerated.

Initially launched by former Chief Minister Hemant Soren in November of the previous year, the scheme is focused on providing housing to individuals who did not qualify for the benefits under the PM Awas Yojana (PMAY).

During a review meeting, CM Soren stated, ''Speed up the process of construction of 2 lakh houses under the first phase… Action will be taken against officers who commit irregularities and negligence in this scheme.''

He confirmed that the first installment for the house construction had already been disbursed, highlighting that the scheme primarily targets economically disadvantaged groups.

Additionally, Soren instructed that construction materials like sand must be provided at the lowest possible rates and emphasized the importance of maintaining transparency in choosing beneficiaries.

The Chief Minister has been closely monitoring the progress in various departments post the Lok Sabha elections.
