A tragic fire in a multi-storey building in Kuwait resulted in the deaths of at least 49 people and injured over 50, mainly Indian workers. The fire started in a kitchen and spread rapidly. Authorities are conducting investigations and have promised strict actions against those responsible.
A deadly fire engulfed a multi-storey building in Kuwait's Mangaf area early Wednesday, claiming at least 49 lives, mostly Indians, and injuring more than 50 others, officials have reported. The blaze, which erupted in a kitchen, trapped many residents who succumbed to smoke inhalation during their sleep.
Rescue operations faced significant challenges due to the obstruction of ground passages, which hampered quick evacuation efforts. The building housed 195 people, all employees of the NBTC group. Five firefighters sustained injuries in the rescue mission.
The Interior Ministry has launched an investigation, promising stringent measures against the building's owner. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait activated an emergency helpline and dispatched officials for assistance. Kuwaiti authorities, led by the Emir, have vowed to hold all responsible parties accountable.
