Two of the nine children who were injured when a metal roof collapsed on the terrace of a building in Thane are in serious condition, an official reported on Saturday.

The incident occurred amid heavy rains on Friday night. The children were playing football in the nearby Gawand Baug ground at the time of the collapse, confirmed the official.

''Six of them are hospitalised, and the condition of two is serious,'' he added. Local MLA Pratap Sarnaik visited the scene and pledged that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure the children receive proper medical treatment.
