Devastating Floods Hit Uttar Pradesh: 19 Dead in 24 Hours

Over 600 villages in Uttar Pradesh are submerged by floods, resulting in 19 fatalities due to rain-related incidents within the last 24 hours. The state's relief officials are providing aid through flood relief camps and coordinating rescue efforts with NDRF and SDRF teams.

More than 600 villages in 12 districts of Uttar Pradesh have been severely affected by flooding, with 19 lives lost due to rain-related incidents reported in the last 24 hours, according to relief department officials.

From 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 16 fatalities occurred due to lightning strikes, two people drowned, and one person died after being bitten by a snake. Uttar Pradesh recorded an average rainfall of 30 mm in this period, officials stated.

Rainfall has raised water levels in several rivers, flooding 633 villages across 12 districts. In response, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the flood-affected areas of Lakhimpur Kheri and Pilibhit districts to oversee relief efforts.

“Teams of the NDRF and SDRF are working with local authorities to address flood-related issues. We have established 712 flood relief camps for affected residents and 226 animal shelters for their livestock,” said State Relief Commissioner Naveen Kumar.

Food and other basic amenities are being provided at these camps, he added.
