Haryana’s Mega Urban Development Plan Unveiled by CM Nayab Singh Saini

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini chaired multiple metropolitan development meetings for Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, and Panchkula. Key approvals included significant budgets for city surveillance, traffic management, new water treatment plants, flyovers, sports infrastructure, electric buses and stormwater drainage systems to modernize and improve city infrastructure.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini chaired key metropolitan development meetings for Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, and Panchkula on Wednesday, approving significant infrastructure projects.

At the 13th meeting of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), a budget of Rs 2,887.32 crore for the financial year 2024-25 was sanctioned. Discussions focused on expanding city surveillance, traffic management, and new water treatment plants.

The GMDA's approval included a Rs 422 crore project for the third phase of Gurugram’s CCTV city surveillance and adaptive traffic management. The number of CCTV cameras will increase from about 4,000 to nearly 14,000.

The meeting also greenlit the construction of a flyover at the Sector 45-46-51-52 junction, budgeted at Rs 52 crore, and another at the Sector 85-86-89-90 junction. Other approvals included a Rs 620 crore elevated corridor and interchange on the Southern Peripheral Road, and a Rs 634.30 crore upgrade of Tau Devi Lal Stadium.

The GMDA sanctioned a Rs 215 crore allocation for the Master Storm Water Drainage System in Sector 76-80. Also, 200 electric buses will bolster city bus services.

Issues discussed encompassed drainage, garbage collection, a civil hospital, and a new bus stand. Concern over monsoon water-logging led Saini to insist on active resolution efforts, personally pledging site visits to ensure compliance.

Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh and other GMDA members attended via videoconferencing. Faridabad's meeting saw a Rs 2,600 crore project for drinking water and drainage and a Rs 1,289 crore old sewage replacement project. They also approved crucial water supply improvement projects along the Yamuna river, and infrastructure connects East and West Faridabad, involving multiple flyovers and approach roads.

Saini also chaired development meetings for Panchkula and Sonipat.
