Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena chaired a crucial meeting with the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Thursday, mandating immediate desilting of drains and removal of encroachments along the Yamuna floodplains, according to Raj Niwas officials.

The meeting, aimed at reviewing flood control preparedness, saw directions to various agencies, including the DDA, to prevent obstructions in Yamuna's flow due to construction debris. Permanent and temporary pumps are to be monitored round the clock at vulnerable points.

Saxena emphasized urgent cleaning of all major drains and culverts, highlighting the responsibility of the PWD, MCD, and other agencies. He also stressed ongoing coordination with Haryana and Himachal Pradesh authorities and readiness of evacuation plans for affected low-lying areas.
