Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to perform 'bhoomi-pujan' on July 13 for the 12.20-kilometre-long twin tunnels, part of the ambitious Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the twin tunnels are crucial for slashing travel time between Goregaon and Mulund from 75 minutes to a mere 25 minutes.

The 4.70 km long twin tunnels will traverse under the Sanjay Gandhi National Park and will be linked every 300 metres. The project, estimated at Rs 6301.08 crore, will utilize tunnel boring machines and is slated for completion by October 2028. An official event will be held at NESCO in Goregaon to mark this significant development.
