The Haryana Cabinet on Friday approved the 'Mukhya Mantri Shehri Awas Yojana' to offer affordable housing to economically weaker sections (EWS). The scheme targets families with an annual income of up to Rs 1.80 lakh, offering them a 30 square yard plot for house construction.
The scheme aims to benefit around 1 lakh families initially, integrating with the beneficiary-led construction vertical of PMAY-U. Last year, a demand survey resulted in 2.89 lakh registrations, with 1.51 lakh opting for plots and 1.39 lakh for flats.
Financial assistance combining subsidies, loans, and interest subvention will be provided. Additionally, a separate scheme, 'Mukhya Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana', will address rural housing needs, offering financial aid of up to Rs 1 lakh for purchasing plots up to 100 square yards.
