Indore Gears Up for Record-Breaking Tree Plantation with 11 Lakh Saplings

Indore, Madhya Pradesh, is set to plant 11 lakh saplings in 12 hours on Sunday during a mega tree plantation event attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Part of the 'Ek Tree Maa Ke Naam' campaign, this initiative aims to surpass Assam's record of planting 9,21,730 saplings in 24 hours.

Indore city in Madhya Pradesh is preparing for a historic tree plantation event this Sunday. The initiative, which aims to plant a record-breaking 11 lakh saplings within 12 hours, will be attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, according to state minister Kailash Vijayvargiya.

As part of the 'Ek Tree Maa Ke Naam' campaign, a total of 51 lakh saplings are set to be planted across 2,649 locations in Indore. The major event will occur at the Revati shooting range of the Border Security Force (BSF) from 6 am to 6 pm on July 14, with Shah himself planting a sapling.

Kailash Vijayvargiya highlighted that numerous institutions and individuals have voluntarily contributed saplings worth Rs 20 crore. In addition to the plantation drive, Shah will also inaugurate the Prime Minister's College of Excellence in all 55 districts of the state through video conferencing.

The campaign aims to break the current world record held by Assam for planting 9,21,730 saplings in 24 hours. Over 100 representatives from Guinness World Records will be on-site to verify the record attempt. Notably, Indore is also recognized as India's cleanest city for seven consecutive years.
