Telangana CM Pushes for Comprehensive Disaster Response Unit in Hyderabad

Telangana Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, directed officials to establish the proposed Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRA) unit. The unit is intended to provide a wide range of services to the expanding city. The HYDRA unit will manage disaster responses, protect government properties, and curb illegal activities.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday directed officials to establish the proposed Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRA) unit to meet the city's expanding needs.

In alignment with the National Disaster Management Act, the chief minister emphasized the importance of extending various services through the HYDRA unit, which will build on the existing enforcement, vigilance, and disaster management capacities of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

The CM highlighted that the HYDRA unit should oversee disaster response, government property protection, encroachment prevention, traffic management, and the provision of essential utilities such as drinking water and electricity within the city's 2,000 square kilometer limit extending up to the Outer Ring Road (ORR).
