Rescuers in Nepal on Saturday recovered the body of a 40-year-old Indian national, Rishi Pal Shahi, who had been working in the country. His body was found after two buses were swept into the rain-swollen Trishuli River by a mudslide the previous day, with over 50 passengers on board.

The incident occurred in the Simaltal area along the Narayanghat-Mugling road in Chitwan district. Initial reports indicated that the buses were carrying seven Indian nationals among the 54 total passengers. The first body was discovered about 50 km from the site of the accident. According to police officials, three people managed to swim to safety.

Rescue operations, involving over 500 security personnel, resumed early Saturday with the help of deep divers and water drones. Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhesh Raj Rijal confirmed that the deceased was aboard a bus traveling from Kathmandu to Gaur. The Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force are continuing efforts to locate the missing persons amid ongoing extreme weather events.
