Himachal Pradesh Experiences 43% Deficit in Monsoon Rainfall

Himachal Pradesh has faced a 43% deficit in monsoon rainfall, receiving only 151.6 mm compared to the normal 266.4 mm from June 1 to July 21. Despite isolated heavy rainfall, all 12 districts recorded deficits. Residents have been warned of possible damage due to incoming heavy rain.

Himachal Pradesh has experienced a significant 43 percent deficit in rainfall as the South-West monsoon, which commenced in the state on June 27, remains inconsistent.

The Meteorological Department reports that the state received only 151.6 mm of rain between June 1 and July 21, falling short of the normal 266.4 mm.

All 12 districts, including Shimla, Lahaul, and Spiti, faced rainfall shortages, with the highest deficits in tribal districts. An Orange Alert has been issued, warning of potential heavy rains and thunderstorms in the coming days.
