Devastating Rains Cause Havoc in Pune: Lives Lost and Homes Flooded

Heavy rains in Pune have caused massive disruption, leading to four deaths and severe flooding in low-lying areas. Heavy rains wreaked havoc in Maharashtra's Pune, causing the deaths of at least four persons and inundating several houses and residential societies in low-lying areas. People are being evacuated, officials said.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, while touring the district, confirmed that Army teams have been deployed at Ekta Nagar in Sinhagad Road, with NDRF personnel also on the ground. Rescue operations are ongoing at a landslide site in Lavasa, where three people are feared trapped.

The India Meteorological Department issued a 'red alert' for Pune district, prompting the closure of schools and colleges and urging residents to take precautions. Low-lying areas like Sinhagad Road, Bavdhan, and Baner faced severe flooding, necessitating evacuation efforts by the fire brigade and Pune Municipal Corporation.
