Assam's flood situation improved on Thursday as water levels of major rivers receded and the number of people affected by the deluge declined to 66,267 in nine districts, according to an official bulletin.

The Assam Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) reported no new casualties, maintaining the toll at 114 due to floods, landslides, storms, and lightning.

The number of affected people dropped from 69,671 across ten districts. Morigaon, Dhemaji, Hojai, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Nagaon, Golaghat, Goalpara, and Jorhat are among the flood-hit districts. Affected revenue circles remain at 21, with flooded villages down to 184 from 190.

Nagaon remains the worst-hit district with 55,711 affected people, followed by Golaghat and Dhemaji. Crop inundation decreased to 4,076.4 hectares.

Currently, 1,953 people are housed in 24 relief camps, with 2,298 receiving assistance via distribution centers. Tributarie Dikhou and Disang are above danger marks at Sivasagar and Nanglamuraghat.

Floodwaters washed away 22 animals, damaged 13 houses, and breached two embankments on Thursday. Assam has faced two flood waves this year, with the first from May 28 to June 13 and the second starting June 16.
