Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday expressed deep condolences for the tragic deaths of three IAS aspirants due to waterlogging in the basement of a building in Delhi, and pointed to the flawed infrastructure and institutional negligence as the culprits.
The sudden flooding, caused by torrential rain, occurred in the basement of a coaching center in Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar area, leading to the fatal incident. Gandhi emphasized the systemic failure resulting in common people paying the ultimate price.
Reacting to the situation in a Hindi post on X, Gandhi called for accountability and stressed the need for safe and reliable urban planning while police detained and booked the owner and coordinator of the coaching center on charges of culpable homicide.
