Air New Zealand has scrapped its 2030 carbon emissions reduction targets, pointing to delays in the production of new planes, a shortage of alternative fuels, and challenging regulatory settings.
In a reversal of its earlier commitments to the UN Science Based Targets Initiative, the airline's update highlights the significant hurdles in meeting the Paris Agreement on emissions reductions. Air New Zealand had previously pledged a 28.9% reduction in carbon emissions from a 2019 baseline by 2030.
