Three individuals lost their lives and approximately 40 remain unaccounted for after two separate cloudburst events hit Himachal Pradesh, officials reported on Thursday. Torrential rains have obliterated homes, roads, and left significant damage to two hydroelectric projects.

In Rampur's Samagh Khud area, Shimla district Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi revealed two fatalities and around 28 missing persons. Two people were rescued as efforts continue amidst washed-away roads, making the operation particularly challenging.

Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap stated that the cloudburst occurred around 1 am. Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi noted the extensive damage from heavy rains, which has also disrupted road connectivity, causing the collapse of several bridges. Rescue teams, including NDRF and ITBP, are utilizing drones to locate missing persons. Schools in affected areas are closed, prioritizing rescue and relief operations.
