In the wake of devastating landslides in Wayanad, Kerala, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited the affected areas on Thursday, terming it a 'national disaster.'
The landslides, triggered by torrential rains, have claimed 173 lives so far, impacting regions like Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha. Gandhi expressed deep pain, emphasizing, 'It’s very difficult to speak to people in these circumstances because you really don’t know what to say to them.'
Both leaders visited multiple relief camps and health centers, assuring the survivors that they are closely monitoring the relief and rehabilitation efforts. Rahul Gandhi stressed the urgent need for a comprehensive action plan to tackle repeated natural calamities.
