Over 33,000 Demolitions in Delhi: 20,643 Affected Since 2019

Over 33,000 demolitions have been conducted in Delhi since 2019, affecting 20,643 individuals. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has led most of these operations, with 16,138 demolitions occurring in 2023 alone. The actions reclaimed 316.72 acres. Union Minister Tokhan Sahu provided these statistics in a Rajya Sabha response.

Over 33,000 demolitions have been carried out by various agencies in Delhi since 2019, impacting 20,643 people, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu informed the Rajya Sabha on Monday.

In his written response, Sahu noted that 16,138 demolitions occurred in 2023 alone, with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) responsible for the removal of 11,060 residential structures and 23 commercial units.

From 2019 to 2024, demolition activities varied, with a significant spike seen in 2023. These efforts reclaimed 316.72 acres of land. The statistics were shared in response to a query by AAP MP Sanjay Singh.
