Severe Rainfall Triggers Floods in Rajasthan

Heavy rainfall in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer, Pali, and Jodhpur districts has led to flood-like conditions. Disaster management teams have been deployed, and several trains have been cancelled or rerouted. Officials are actively monitoring the situation and providing assistance.

Authorities in Rajasthan have been grappling with a deluge as extremely heavy rainfall lashed the districts of Jaisalmer, Pali, and Jodhpur over the past 24 hours, creating flood-like conditions. Disaster management teams, with mud pumps and tankers, have been dispatched to mitigate the waterlogging and aid affected residents, officials reported on Tuesday.

According to the Meteorological Centre in Jaipur, parts of Jaisalmer, Pali, and Jodhpur experienced rainfalls ranging from 206 mm to 260 mm. The downpour has led to severe waterlogging in several regions. Officials, including Jaisalmer collector Pratap Singh and SP Sudheer Choudhary, have visited the inundated areas to assess the damage.

In light of these conditions, the Met Centre has issued a rain warning. Concurrently, North Western Railway has cancelled or rerouted several trains due to disrupted tracks. Notably, the Jodhpur-Jaisalmer express and the Sabarmati-Jodhpur special train have been suspended.
