Tragic Accident: Labourer Falls into Open Manhole in Mumbai

A 35-year-old labourer named Sunil Siddharth Wakode died after falling into a manhole opened by a hotel owner for cleaning in Borivali West, Mumbai. The incident occurred at 4:30 pm and he was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. The fire brigade and ward staff responded to the scene.

A 35-year-old labourer died after falling into a manhole in Borivali West in the northern part of Mumbai on Thursday, a civic official reported.

The incident occurred at 4:30pm near Ambaji Mandir, close to Gokhale school on Shimpoli road. The deceased has been identified as Sunil Siddharth Wakode, a contract worker.

According to a release, the manhole, part of the BMC sewerage line, was forcefully opened by a hotel owner for cleaning. He had deputed private contract labourers for the job. Wakode fell inside during the cleaning process and was declared dead on arrival at Babasaheb Ambedkar hospital. The fire brigade and ward staff were dispatched to the site.
