Severe Rains Cause Havoc in Himachal Pradesh, Over 100 Casualties Reported
Himachal Pradesh is grappling with severe weather as heavy rains, flash floods, and landslides continue to disrupt the region. The state has witnessed significant road closures, damages, and power outages. Over 100 people have lost their lives, with extensive rescue operations ongoing to trace missing individuals. Himachal Pradesh is battling severe weather conditions as heavy rains, flash floods, and landslides wreak havoc in several districts. The continuous downpour has led to the closure of 135 roads and caused significant damage to essentials such as power and water supply schemes.
The State Emergency Operation Centre reports substantial disruptions, particularly in Sirmaur, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Kangra, Kinnaur, and Lahaul and Spiti districts. Rescue operations are underway to find about 30 individuals who went missing after flash floods triggered by a cloudburst on July 31.
An orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for multiple districts, with the weather department cautioning against potential crop damage, waterlogging, and risks to vulnerable structures. The rainy season has already claimed more than 100 lives, with the state suffering an estimated loss of Rs 842 crores.
