Assam Seeks IIT-Guwahati's Expertise to Tackle Dibrugarh Floods
The Assam government has enlisted IIT-Guwahati to conduct a technical study on the causes of flooding in Dibrugarh and develop comprehensive solutions. Lok Sabha MP Sonowal reviewed the flood-affected areas, confirming the institute's role in drafting a master plan and providing technical support. The initiative follows the severe impact of recent heavy rains on the region.

The Assam government has reached out to IIT-Guwahati for a technical analysis of the persistent flooding issue in Dibrugarh, seeking a lasting solution.
Sonowal, the Lok Sabha MP representing Dibrugarh, conducted a review of flood-affected and erosion-prone areas, assessing protective measures implemented thus far.
He announced that IIT-Guwahati is set to study the factors contributing to the flooding in Dibrugarh, prepare a comprehensive master plan, and provide technical recommendations to the state government.
Sonowal emphasized that the state government has formally requested IIT-Guwahati's assistance and promised that necessary actions would be implemented based on their recommendations. Recent heavy rains have severely disrupted life in Dibrugarh due to floods and erosion.
Additionally, the institute's expertise will be sought for sewer management in Chabua. The MP also participated in the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' bike rally organized by the district BJP.
