Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah conducted a high-level meeting on Friday to discuss impending heavy rains and necessary precautionary measures, as forecasted by the India Meteorological Department.
Highlighting the importance of inter-departmental coordination, Siddaramaiah stressed effective management to mitigate the impact of the rains. The state reported 67 fatalities due to heavy showers, with Rs 329 lakh provided in compensation.
The chief minister also highlighted agricultural impacts, noting 81,589 hectares of crop damage. Instructions were issued to manage dams' water levels, inspect bridges, and enforce stringent measures to avoid flooding. Bengaluru officials were instructed to hold daily reviews to ensure preparedness.
