Divers are frantically scouring the wreck of a luxury yacht off Sicily's coast, where six passengers remain missing, including notable British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch and a Morgan Stanley executive, following a violent storm that sank the vessel.
The British-flagged Bayesian, a 56-meter superyacht, was carrying 22 people when an intense pre-dawn storm struck, sinking the ship and leaving six unaccounted for. Fifteen people managed to escape, and the body of one victim was recovered soon after.
Among the missing are Lynch, his daughter, Morgan Stanley International chairman Jonathan Bloomer, lawyer Chris Morvillo, and two wives. Divers face significant challenges due to the vessel lying 49 meters deep. The ship, owned by Lynch's wife, appeared intact but suffered considerable damage. Ongoing investigations will focus on storm preparedness and potential negligence amidst rising extreme weather conditions linked to higher sea temperatures.
