Thapar Institute Steps Towards a Zero-Waste Future

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) in Patiala, Punjab, aims to transform its 250-acre campus into a zero-waste ecosystem. The institute has identified 18 waste categories and has partnered with 'Saahas Zero Waste' to implement comprehensive waste management solutions.

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) is set to revolutionize its 250-acre campus by creating a zero-waste ecosystem, ensuring no waste ends up in landfills.

Located in Patiala, Punjab, this 68-year-old institute has committed to achieving zero waste. It currently generates about 3.5 tons of waste daily, which includes biomedical, e-waste, battery waste, and other categories.

Partnering with 'Saahas Zero Waste', the institute has rolled out an extensive waste management plan to identify and manage 18 different types of waste, paving the way for a zero-waste environment.
