The torrential downpours have forced the evacuation of 13,227 people from 294 villages across five districts in Andhra Pradesh, according to Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, in a review of the weather situation, urged officials to incorporate drone technology for assessing the damages and to strategically plan relief efforts.
Naidu's directives also included caution against food and water contamination and the quick resolution of flooding issues in affected colonies and houses. Up to 10 lakh cusecs of water is being discharged from Prakasam Barrage, necessitating the alerting and evacuation of downstream residents.
